INTRODUCTION

Officially the State of Brunei Darussalam or the Nation of Brunei, it is a sovereign located on the north coast of the island of Borneo, in Southeast, Brunei's population was estimated around 400,000 as in July 2010, Brunei Darussalam's National language is malay and most of its citizens embrace islam as their religion.

 TOURIST ATTRACTION

Sultan  Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque




It can be considered as one of the amazing attractions of Brunei. Located on an artificial lagoon; it marked the tremendous architectural achievement of Brunei. It is situated near the Brunei River in Kampong Ayer and considered to be the largest mosque of Far East.

It is one of the most renowned mosques of Southeast Asia which is known for its beauty. It has a height of 52 metres with the walls made of marble. The arches, columns and towers are also made of the same marble. The walls support the gold dome on the top of the mosque and the carpets are specifically made in Saudi Arabia. While the hand made stained glass were brought from England which add more charm to the beauty of the mosque.

Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is named after the 28th Sultan of Brunei. This magnificent mosque is also considered as the symbol of the Islamic faith in Brunei.

Royal Residence (Istana Nurul Iman)

Royal Residences in Brunei is one of the most beautiful cultural places in Brunei. The palaces of the royal family reveal some of the greatest architecture for all the ages to come. Its design reflects the excellence of the architecture of Brunei. Among the Royal Residencies in Brunei, Istana Nurul Iman is among the spectacular palaces in Brunei.

It is the largest residential palace in Brunei. It is located on the banks of the Brunei River and it is only open to the public and visitors during the Hari Raya Puasa festival. His Majesty as well as the royal family greets the visitor during these days.

Being the palace of the Sultan of Brunei, Istana Nurul Iman is the venue for all the state functions. It was built in 1984 and costs around $400 million USD. The palace also consists of two palaces in the center and five adjacent buildings. It has 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms and the floor area is consisted of 2,152,782 square feet (200,000.0 m2). It also holds a golden dome. The design of the palace reflects the influence of Islamic and Malay architecture


FUNCTION AND CONFERENCE

INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE

The International Convention Centre, shortly known as the ICC, is the largest meeting venue in Brunei Darussalam. It has made the country capable of hosting high profiled events and to name the few - ASEAN Ministers Meetings (AMM), Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC 2000) and ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2001).

It has the state-of-the-art-technology making it an excellent venue for big events. The halls and meeting rooms are provided with various kind of facilities meeting the demands for conferences and exhibitions.
The complex nestled on a 20 hectare land area which is less than 5 minutes drive from Brunei International Airport, a few minutes walk to the Bolkiah National Stadium and five minutes drive from Bandar Seri Begawan's commercial center.

ACTIVITIES

 
Watersports
Swimming, sailing, jet skiing, skindiving and fishing are popular, especially around Brunei Bay and its islands. Scuba-diving training and certification, Yachting expeditions, water-skiiing and wake boarding courses are available. Many traditional sporting activities are available such as Gasing, a game involving highly polished giant tops, and Kite Flying. Most hotels will have details of activities on offer.


Brunei Fishing
Brunei Fishing mainly center on the Kampong Ayer, along the Jalan Kota Batu. But there are more happening spots for fishing like Danau, Seri Kenangan Beach, Kuala Tutong, Jerudong Beach, Sungai Bunga, Kampong Pengkalan Sibabau, Ujung Sapoh, Makam Luba, Serasa Beach, Tungku Beach and Pelompong Island.

Since offshore fishing of Brunei is not always safe, Brunei offers sheltered spots for fishing. If you are a bit adventurous you can go for the remote fishing grounds of this country. These grounds are unspoiled since the authorities do not allow destructive methods like usage of cyanide or bombing.

Transportation

Purple Bus
From Brunei International Airport.Take purple Bus and this bus will stop at the bus terminal centre in Bandar Seri Begawan. Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital city of Brunei. The trip cost you around BND$1.5. From Bus Terminal Centre.From this centre you can go anyway you like. For example outside Brunei , if you want to go Limbang, Serawak Malaysia, just use the purple bus. You can also go to miri by catching the bus that stated BSB to Belait. From Beliat you can go to miri by catching Beliat -miri bus. Just remember this, LImbang and MIri is not part of Brunei. They are belong to malaysia

Water Taxi
Cheap and fun, what more can be said about taking a water taxi up or down river, to or from Kampung Ayer. At B$1 per trip, its good value too.

JERUDONG PARK



Jerudong Park is an amusement park in Brunei. It is the largest and most expensive amusement park in South East Asia, built and funded by the Bruneian government for $1 billion.
It is notable that during its first few years of operation, Jerudong Park featured no admission fees and free rides. It is currently larger than phase 1 of Hong Kong Disneyland. The public only had to queue up for rides.
